What did I learn today? Today someone from TI instructed the group on the use of the new TI-nspire hand-helds. We used them to perform two activities the first was a probability activity called "The Terminator." In this activity we learned how to "roll die" to come up with a number that would cause the individual to be eliminated from the game. Each person's elimination round was then recorded in the hand-held and we created a bar graph and scatter plot to show the mean, median, and mode of the activity.
The second activity we participated in was one that showed linear regression activity in which we measured the length of string, tied a knot, measured the string again and recorded each in a t chart within the hand-held. This was repeated 10 times and then we created a scatterplot and a line of best fit.
Both of these activities were good for teaching us to use the TI-nspire. The knot activity I think would be useful when teaching dependent & indpendent variables.
